Baking classes

Come and
learn it.

We teach kids, beginners and people who want to sell what they bake — in our kitchen, with your hands in the bowl.

You pay once and we supply everything — you just come and bake

What we teach

Four ways to learn

One price, everything included. We supply the ingredients, the tins and the equipment — you come and bake, and you take your goodies home.

What you leave with

Not a demo — a day of baking

Nothing to bring

Ingredients, tins, equipment and aprons are all ours. The price you're quoted is the price you pay.

Everything you baked

You bake it, you box it, you take it home. Nobody watches us bake and then leaves empty-handed.

The recipes

The same ones we bake to sell — no watered-down teaching version, no missing step at the end.

A certificate

Every student who finishes a course gets a Bobo's Cakes certificate of attendance, signed and dated.

How a class runs

From flour to a box in your hands

Book your seat

Message us with who's coming and roughly when. We'll tell you the next date and what it costs.

Just arrive

Ingredients, tins, aprons and hairnets are all covered by the price. Bring yourself and something to carry the box home in.

Bake it yourself

We demonstrate a step, then you do it. Every student works their own bowl — nobody watches from the back.

Take it home

You box up everything you made, we hand over the recipes and your certificate, and we photograph your work.

The recipes

We put ours in print

Baking with Chef Bobo and Cook and Bake are our books. What we teach in class is what's in them, and what's in them is what we sell — the same banana bread, the same snowballs, the same malva.

That matters more than it sounds. A recipe that's been through a paying customer is a recipe you can build a business on, and plenty of our students have done exactly that.

What our students say after

This is all your doing. I tried your recipes and I have customers that come back cause they can't get enough.

Good to know

Class questions, answered

What does the course price include?
Everything. You pay once and we supply the ingredients, the tins and the equipment — you just come and bake, and you take your goodies home with you. There's nothing to buy on the day.
How old do the kids need to be?
The holiday classes suit primary-school ages — old enough to hold a whisk and follow a step. Tell us how old your child is and we'll say honestly whether the next class is a good fit.
Do I need any baking experience?
No. Most people who book the baking course have never baked anything they sold. We start at weighing and creaming and go from there.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes — every student who completes a course gets a Bobo's Cakes certificate of attendance, and photos of what you baked to use for your own page.
Do I get the recipes to keep?
Yes. They're the same recipes we bake to sell, and the same ones in our books — Baking with Chef Bobo and Cook and Bake.
Where are the classes held?
In our kitchen in Crystal Park, and we also run kids classes at Benoni Zito. Bigger groups and school or church bookings can be arranged at your venue — ask us.
Can you do a private or group class?
Yes — birthdays, team-building, church groups and stokvels have all booked one. Send us the group size and a date and we'll put it together.

Tell us who's coming

Send us which course you're after and roughly when suits you, and we'll come back with the next date. The price you see is the price you pay — there's nothing to buy on top of it.
